That sounds like such a wild statement to people. Some, would accuse me of hyperbole in even daring to statement but when you sit down and start parsing the actions and behavior of Democrats these days, it becomes very easy to see the parallels.
First, let’s…
I started this way, way back in September 2020 at the height of the Covid pandemic. At that time, Democratic governors had shut down their states, something that in hindsight was far more damaging than it was helpful particularly when it came to students and leading to lifelong impact:
Learning progress slowed substantially in the U.S. during the pandemic. In the three decades before the pandemic, the mean achievement of U.S. eighth graders in math — measured by the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) — rose by more than 20 points or 0.5 standard deviations (SD). Between 2019 and 2022, math scores declined by 8 points, which means that students lost 40 percent of the previous rise, as shown in Figure 1.
At the time there was very much this militant idea of what people should and shouldn’t do. Of course in some quarters, if you didn’t fall lockstep into what a certain group wanted something was definitely WRONG with you.
That kind of group think was so very damaging to us.
Now, I look at what went on in the rear view mirror with a certain amount of pride. You see, I look at it that way because I found myself just using common sense and my tendency to avoid what the lemmings themselves seem to do.
To me, perhaps the most striking thing was seeing the complete difference in Manhattan in the span of a few short days when suddenly people woke up to just how devastating Covid might be. Literally, we bugged out of our office on March 12 and by the next week fear had taken hold.
While New York City had been more or less normal the week that began on March 9th, by the following week we had succumbed to the overwhelming fear of what was facing us.
This really wasn’t any surprise to me. While it may seem unlikely I had in fact been having a conversation with my office mate in late January saying to him that if what was happening in China came here we’d be fucked and then it did.
I went in the week following after we bugged out of the office because we had been working remotely and I was having problems with my computer which I was logging into remotely and which I knew needed nothing more than a restart. So, I took it upon myself to drive in and restart the computer on my own since our IT people weren’t in the office either and weren’t really helping and I had work that was on deadline and needed to be done.
Looking back now… we see repeatedly how the people who shouted the loudest about locking people down and who were the most dictatorial in their actions were the same folks who ignored their own directives if it impacted on the convenience of their lives.
To that end Gavin Newsome who locked down California and shut down restaurants was caught out having a party at a restaurant, something none of the ‘little people’ in his state got to do. Nancy Pelosi another advocate of Draconian measures made sure to get her hair done which is something others didn’t have the option to do but of course Nancy was all set up with her big expensive refrigerators and gourmet ice cream. Lori Lightfoot was the same, shutting down Chicago but also getting her hair done and then telling the same ‘little people’ she was somehow different.
And that really is the problem I have with the Democrats of today because honestly they look a lot like what ‘party members’ of the old Soviet Union looked like in that they got all the benefits while the rest of the ‘people’ were forced to stand in line for toilet paper.
Over the four years of Biden we saw that first hand in the ways that illegal immigration didn’t impact ‘party members’ who send their children to private schools and live behind walls and gates. I find that to be insidious to say the least but what’s really telling is that they call people they don’t like fascists.
It’s not fascist to want to live in a safe neighborhood. It’s not fascist to not want your kid indoctrinated into some kind of weird gender confusion. It’s not fascist to have the expectation that there shouldn’t be any tax dollars devoted to people from other countries when we have a ton of poor and homeless citizens.
Yet we hear that again and again and again.
Democrats seem to be determined not to embrace the things that their party was known for but rather they appear to want to reject all of that while accusing others of the very things they’re doing.
Gerrymandering? Seeing Democrats act indignant about what’s happening in Texas is just laughable when you look at the gerrymandering they’ve done in Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Illinois, California and other Democratic led states.
Fighting for illegals? REALLY? You think your own constituents don’t notice?
Fighting against charter schools when you send your own children to private schools and are on the payroll of teacher’s unions?
Right now we see people talking about being indicted for mortgage fraud and for mishandling of classified documents and saying there is a witchhunt going on ignoring what they did to the current President during the Biden years.
The problem is, people just aren’t listening anymore… when you continually scream about THREATS TO DEMOCRACY while doing the very things you say are threats don’t be surprised if people wise up and that’s exactly what’s happening to our Democratic friends:

Better still is that in some quarters, Democrats think that the way to beat Trump is to be like Trump. I hate to tell them this but it won’t work. No other Republican can be Trump and none of them are trying which is why watching Democrats try and pretend they are Trump either by using blue language or tough rhetoric looks even more foolish considering what they had been saying about Trump and his rhetoric for years.
Then again, what do Party Members have if not propaganda?
The only problem is that people are tuning out and it shows not just in how they’re ignoring the antics of the Democratic political class but also in how the ratings of their propaganda arms have been tanking. It’s a brave new world.
